Since we opened in 2018, we’ve strived to continue to be innovative, not just with our patient care but also with the administrative team. Ways we have done this include:

  • The latest Best Practice software
  • E-prescriptions
  • AutoMed systems, for online bookings and automation of processes
  • Remote Desktop access
  • Use of Point-of-Care ultrasound in a general practice setting
  • Telehealth consultations, in primary care with our patients and with specialists from Melbourne or Interstate.
  • Creating sub- specialist interests/clinics such as Antenatal or Skin Clinics, all within the framework of NEFM

North East Family Medicine is a General Practice clinic in Wangaratta looking to employ a medical receptionist. We currently have six General Practitioners, two practice nurses and an administration team of five and are looking for the right person to join our team.

On offer is:

  • A position of 25.5 -34 hours per week (3/4 days per week)
  • Working hours vary between 0800 and 2000 Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings

Essential Criteria:

  • A positive and friendly telephone manner
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage with patients, health practitioners, internal and external stakeholders;
  • Strong organisational skills and outstanding attention to detail;
  • Ability to build positive relationships and maintain patient and practice/workplace confidentiality;
  • Excellent time management skills, including the ability to prioritise and manage multiple and competing work tasks and deliver to agreed deadlines;
  • Be computer literate with a working knowledge of MS Office; Word and Excel;
  • Dependable and punctual with mature attitude and strong work ethic;
  • Excellent presentation;

  • Minimum 2 years of previous office administration or reception/medical reception experience;

Desirable Criteria:

  • Previous experience with Best Practice software or similar
  • Working knowledge of Medicare/DVA and health insurance/Workcover systems and processes
  • Certificate III or IV in Business or Health Administration
  • Medical Terminology

Our team consists of 4 medical educators, which gives us a great intimate knowledge of current and future specialist GP training.

We have a strong open-door policy between all of our doctors: to ask questions, support of decision or seek second opinions.

We have strong links with local specialist in multiple areas so can help you with any knowledge gaps.

We offer individual educational sessions with supervisors, in addition to our in-house weekly education session. These are provided by local specialists, allied health or our own team.
